The last week of Spring Break flew by! We went for a fun trip to Brooklyn's Playground to enjoy the sunshine, just until Peri hit her nose on the step ladder and blood went everywhere according to her friend Carter, and we rushed her down to Derek's clinic. Her nose is still a little swollen and sore but not broken. The kids were so sad, they thought this meant no ice cream. But Peri said she'd wait in the truck, watching a movie while they went into Yo-Crazy to pick out some for her since she was covered in blood. She's tough- huh!
We did lots of bike riding, running, kite-flying, playing with Clue, and enjoying the outdoors. On Thursday we spent a few days with Marmee and GG. GG took us to Kiwi-Loco as soon as we arrived-YUM! Then we watched Throughly Modern Millie and played the game of LIFE, and the next morning hiked the beautiful Shoshone Falls Canyon. Taylor said to me, " I thought Marmee hated camping," as she turned yet another corner. We went a little longer than expected and the kids did great. It was uphill most of the way, but was so beautiful and so fun to be together. We showed the kids were Evil Knievil tried to jump the canyon- which they were less than thrilled about. Afterward, we went for a little picnic to the Candy Cane park and then home for some much awaited pool time. A trip to Marmee and GG's is never complete without lots of swimming.
GG made us a delicious steak and potato dinner, while Tay, Marmee and I did some shopping. GG also entertained Ashton and Peri for much of the evening as well. Then we watched another movie and drove home. A quick trip but so worth it.
I can't believe we have to go back to regular life again.
I loved General Conference this year, like I always do, but especially Elder Cayton's talk about marriage. He was so sweet! Also loved Pres. Monson's talk about burning the Provo canyon as a boy and especially his facial expressions. I rewound it twice for Ashton to see. He laughed hard, when he finally was really paying attention. What a great man as well as our prophet! We are led by such good men. How blessed we are. Cam also came home from priesthood session and asked Tay and Ashton if they would come in the office and watch something with him. It was the sweet story of Chy Johnson, that Bro. Beck, the General YM's President shared about how she was bullied; then the football team rallied around her and protected her. Then Cam talked to the kids about standing up for kids like that at church, school and sports. They were so sweet and we all shared a tender moment. What a good dad and what sweet and good kids. So proud of all of them!
