Student of the Month

The Academy started a new award this year, called Student of the Month.  They also give out Citizen of the month, but that's more for behavior and going above and beyond in the classroom. Student of the month is for academics- and I couldn't be happier and SUPER proud of Ashton! His handwriting has improved dramatically and he's writing better everyday.  He works hard to get his homework done everynight and is a great speller.  

When they called his name, he said he almost fell down because he was soooo shocked.  The little boy on the end, started to cry when he looked back and saw his mom and dad.  The kids aren't allowed to turn around in the assembly or it will give it away when they see the parents.  All moms and dads come in very quietly after the assembly has started, so they are so surprised when they finally turn around and see them. It's a really great event. They take their picture and hang it up in the front hall for a month, so all the kids can see it.  They also get a Pizza Pie Cafe certificate and free bowling certificate.  We put the pizza one to good use last night- except that he threw up all night long.  I think it will be awhile before we go back there.
