Yesterday started off with a trip to Dr. DaBell's office, who extracted Ashton's "extra" tooth. We've been watching x-rays for about 3 years trying to figure out what that funny white thing was on the film. We finally realized it was an extra tooth that was growing in on the roof of his mouth. It was starting to hurt him too. Ashton was so nervous about the procedure, but Dr. DaBell was so great with him, and asked him lots of questions about baseball and hunting. That seemed to help distract him, UNTIL they couldn't find his vein. We knew knocking him out would be the best thing for everyone. My poor little boy was so tough, but I could see a tear creep out of the corner of his eye and drop on the ground, and then he looked at me; and a tear creeped out of the corner of my eye too. I was instantly flashed back to the past, when I was in surgery and they couldn't find my vein either. All of a sudden there's my sweet dad on a gernie next to me. I understood what you were going through now dad. It's really not easy to watch your precious baby going through any pain. And the fact that needles and us do just not mix either, doesn't help the situation. ( I hope you're not passed out on the floor right now) The surgery went great and in 20 minutes he was done. It actually took him more time to come out of the anesthesia, than to go through surgery. When he finally woke up, he kept asking Cam with a mouthful of gauze why he had two noses and four eyes. I recorded him, just in case he was silly, and he was. However, I've been banned from putting that on the blog. Taylor and Peri anxiously awaited at home, and had a bed all ready for him on the couch and a bowl of ice cream all scooped out. They gathered around him and waited on him hand and food for an hour, then they were ready for ice cream themselves. We all sat as a family and watched The Sandlot. Ashton laughed so hard, and came back to himself! I love that deep belly laugh- it's like no other. Then minutes later, Peri bit into a piece of pizza and lost her tooth! Flossie and Tim the tooth fairies were very busy last night.
Then Cannon, our big 5 year old cousin had a fun birthday party. They jumped on bounce houses and slides, ran all over their neighbors super fun backyard, ate bbq, and had presents and cakes. Ashton had such a fun time he didn't even notice his stitches. At the end of the party, Peyton want to "come to Cam's" so she loaded up with us and wanted too snuggle with Uncle Cam. She loves him. Peri and Taylor and her put lipgloss on and played the iPad until Uncle Derek came to take her home. She's such a sweetie.
Wow, that was an eventful day!
